Clairvoyance The 'Annual Healthcare Conference – ‘Clairvoyance'

Clairvoyance
The 'Annual Healthcare Conference – ‘Clairvoyance'
'Clairvoyance' is the signature annual event conducted by the students of SHSS. It is an endeavour to bring together multitudes of healthcare professionals, students and industry leaders to a common platform of deliberation and discussion. It provides a pedestal for the pioneers and stalwarts from the field of health care to give insight into the challenges and opportunities that the sector holds for its managers.
Literatim, 'Clairvoyance' means 'an apparent power to perceive things that are not present to the senses'. The event, by means of its varied and inclusive themes across the years precisely aims to catch the pulse of the 'yet-evolving' and 'in-transition' healthcare industry.
This Event has dealt with a number of relevant themes related to healthcare over the past few years, such as:
Capacity Building in Healthcare: Enhancing Abilities, Mitigating Vulnerabilities
Empowering Healthcare through Solutions and Applications
Innovation for a Revolution in Healthcare
Professional Management in Healthcare: Arching for the Zenith
Health Care Management - At Its Crossroads
And many more...
Clairvoyance has witnessed thorough discussions and debates over these themes by the best names in the field of Public Health, Healthcare and Hospital Management. The scope of discussion covers the entire spectrum of healthcare. The event bears the testimony to the exponential growth of the industry. The august gathering of experts promises an insight into the nuances of myriad facets related to health and healthcare industry.
Also, keeping in sync with the reputation of the TISS, 'Clairvoyance' aims to play a paramount role in extending the healthcare management beyond the realms of business and industry to areas of social relevance such as equity, accessibility, affordability etc.
Year 2011, being the Platinum Jubilee of the institute holds special significance for all of us. This year, 'Clairvoyance' is being celebrated as a part of 'RESONANCE'- the Platinum Jubilee celebration.

"History is the witness that testifies to the passing of time; it illumines reality, vitalizes memory, provides guidance in daily life and brings us tidings of antiquity". - Cicero
Ten eventful years have passed in the new Millennium. Just like other sectors, healthcare has undergone enormous changes in this period. It witnessed the dawn of new concepts and the decline of old theories. It faced the heat of numerous challenges and was blessed with innovations from unlikely sources. These transitions shall pave the way for developments of the coming decade.
Health security is an issue that affects all of us. Every person has a fundamental human right to quality healthcare – healthcare that is affordable, accessible, and compassionate. As the nation begins to transform the healthcare system to one that is sustainable, it will be important that we, as a society, ensure that healthcare system respects the dignity of every person and delivers the quality, compassionate care we expect and deserve.
The right of every individual to adequate health care flows from the sanctity of human life and that dignity belongs to all human beings. Amartya Sen's capability approach and Aristotle's political theory discusses the implications of this approach for public policy and for   global health institutions to improve health across the globe , which is widely acclaimed and discussed.
We realize this that meaningful reform will require dialogue, the acceptance of diverse views and above all, compromise. With the human right of healthcare at stake, all of us must work together to make sure future generations inherit a healthcare system that embraces quality and compassion.
Clairvoyance 2011” would act like a driver to bring together myriad healthcare professionals on the common stage and reasoning the course and current face of “Social Justice and health”.
